Team Carpe Diem

Corinne Boudreau, Jona Cho, Steve Lee, and Nigel Wodrich from Saunders Secondary School in London, Ontario are the Canada's Junior 8 Delegation, 2009. 'Carpe Diem.' We travelled to Italy in July 2009 to have our voices heard by some of the world's most powerful leaders at the annual UNICEF Junior 8 Summit - July 4-12, 2009.

Carpe Diem emphasized the following environmental issues:

the need for the Canadian government to declare water a human right
why countries around the world need to ban bottled water
a call to tax fossil fuels and activities that emit greenhouse gases in an effort to encourage energy efficiency.

We, the young people convening at the UNICEF J8 are deeply connected with their communities locally and internationally. We are active in dozens of organizations and causes, and we understand more about the G8 issues than most citizens. We are the people that will live to experience the changes implemented today.
